Winter Break Camp

Posted: Updated:

With school out of session, and Christmas soon to be done, the kids will be looking for something to occupy their time. The city of Charlottesville is offering a solution for keeping kids busy when adults go back to work.

Winter Break Camp starts Wednesday, and it's hosted by Charlottesville Parks and Recreation. There will be two sessions with one running Wednesday through Friday, and then all next week, with the exception of New Years Day.

The camp is held at Venable Elementary school. It's open to pre-kindergarten through 6th graders in both Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

There will be many fun activities to keep everyone happy. "We get to go on field trips, we're going to go to Amusement Square, we're going to go swimming at Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center, we'll also do swim lessons for the kids that sign up for it, we'll do crafts, games, and other fun group activities," said Charlottesville Recreation Program Manager Erica Goode.

Charlottesville city residents can also apply for scholarships to Winter Break Camp. For more information on the scholarships and registration click here.
