UVA Basketball's Only Losses Come From CAA Teams

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia Men's Basketball team is 8-3 on the season after falling 63-61 to Old Dominion Saturday and interestingly - all of their losses have come from the Colonial Athletic Association.

George Mason took out Virginia 63-59 in the season opener.

A few nights later, Delaware, a team with numerous Virginia natives on the roster, beat the 'Hoos at John Paul Jones Arena 59-53.

The Cavaliers say CAA teams always bring their "A" game to prove they can hang with an ACC team.

Freshman Guard, Tevin Jones said, "You can definitely tell that when we played George Mason and ODU that they gave their best effort out of any team they played because we're Virginia. We're in the ACC and they feel that they're below us and they want to prove to people that they're better than us. They just really out hustled us, out-toughed us and they came out with the win."

Evan Nolte had a career high 15 points against the Monarchs and added, "They're going to have a chip on their shoulder coming in. I definitely give credit to George Mason and ODU coming in. I think we didn't play as well as we wanted to but at the end of the day, they made the plays and we didn't."
