A Waynesboro man accused of molesting four different girls wants a separate trial for each alleged victim. Friday, attorneys for John W. Clark II filed a motion to sever.
Clark is currently scheduled for a single trial in February, on a total of 23 felony sex charges. The alleged offenses occurred from the mid-1970s to the late 90s. The investigation that began in spring of 2012 gradually led to more victims and many more allegations of child sexual abuse.
The alleged victims are all adults now. Police say that at the time of the offenses, they ranged in age from toddlers to early teens.
The defense is also asking the Waynesboro judge to throw out some of the prosecution's evidence, including Clark's interview with police. A hearing on that request will take place just before trial.
