The newest brewery in Central Virginia will add holiday cheer to the season. Champion Brewing Company will hold its grand opening event Friday from 5-11 p.m.
The brewery is located on 6th Street Southeast near the Belmont Bridge.
Around 60 kegs of beer have been brewing for the past two months to prepare for the kick off. There will be historical photos of Charlottesville mounted on the walls, six beers on tap, and food trucks set up for guests to enjoy.
"It's sort of this symbiotic relationship that develops— like I don't have to have food, I don't want to run a kitchen. These guys are already up and running and it supports them, and they support me so the people that come here can have food so it's not up to me to provide it," said Hunter Smith, owner of Champion Brewing Company.
The building can occupy 150 people and owners hope to fill the space Friday.
