Patients and their families at the University of Virginia Children's Hospital got a special visit from Santa Claus Thursday. He brought boxes of presents to children there, thanks to a special helper.
Kelley Kassay organized a program called Mason's Toy Box in honor of her son Mason, who died a year and a half ago of neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that develops in immature nerve cells. She says she wants to bring light to the holiday season for families who are spending Christmas in the hospital.
"I know that my son's legacy lives on and it's amazing because he's touched so many lives and that makes me so proud of him," said Kassay.
Mason's Toy Box delivered multiple toys to all the patients and their siblings Thursday. They even had toys left over, and on Friday, parents will be able to go shopping for Christmas morning.
