Some Charlottesville elementary school students are taking a stand against bullying. Wednesday afternoon, the Jackson-Via Bully Nots took the stage at a special school assembly.
The fourth-grade role models presented their greatest musical hits, including a brand new song. The student-led group is part of a schoolwide effort to put a stop to bullying.
"When they feel like this is a school that cares about each other, this is a community that cares about each other - Charlottesville is a community, Jackson-Via is a community to support each other and be friends - then students can learn to the best of their abilities," said school counselor Kristin Ullrich.
All Jackson-Via staff members have been trained through a bullying prevention program. The program helps establish a common language and standard procedure for dealing with bullying.
