Charlottesville Church Holds Prayer Circle Focused on Connecticut Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Thomas Jefferson Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church in Charlottesville invited the community for a prayer circle Tuesday night to talk about the tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

People gathered to reflect and share their feelings about what happened, and to remember the victims. Reverend Erik Wikstrom says people in our area have responded with a wide range of emotions.

"There's been a real mix of emotions. Some folks are just devastated; others are totally confused about how something like this can happen. A lot of folks are angry that we've done this over and over and over again and yet don't seem to be any closer to real solutions," said Wikstrom.

Wikstrom also says we are too quick to fight about issues and that what we need now is to come together as one world family or this will never get solved.
