The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RSWA) is looking at options to keep its Ivy trash facility in business.
Albemarle County has talked about scaling back on funding to the transfer station. Tuesday afternoon, RSWA board members discussed several options to make it economically feasible to maintain county support without dramatically changing the level of service.
"One option would continue to serve residences who take their waste directly to the Ivy Center, could provide some continued recycling programs, also could conclude serving some small commercial customers," said Tom Frederick, executive director of RSWA.
After RSWA decides on the best option, the issue will go before the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.
