Jingle Bell Run Raises Money for Arthritis Foundation

Posted: Updated:

Runners and walkers laced up their running shoes with jingle bells Saturday for the Jingle Bell Run. Participants, some dressed as elves and Santa Clauses, set off for a 5K race and a one-mile walk early that morning at King Family Vineyards in Crozet.

All of the proceeds from the walk will go to the Arthritis Foundation.

"I happen to suffer from Arthritis myself and it's one of the top disorders to disabled people in America and trying to find a cure for that is super important," said Sean Nelson, who participated in the run.

Race organizers say a run is a particularly good way to raise money for arthritis research, since running is a weight-bearing exercise.
