Construction Begins for Eco-Friendly Bus Stop Parking Lot

Posted: Updated:

An eco-friendly parking lot is being installed at a Charlottesville bus stop.

Construction is underway at the JAUNT Linden Avenue bus stop for an innovative stormwater-safe parking lot. The new lot will be installed by a company called PaveDrain, and will keep dirt and oils out of the city's stormwater infrastructure.

"The runoff is filtered through all the stone in the base and so all the impurities and so forth that come from the surface of a parking lot actually get filtered and before it gets into the ground so that's keeping all those impurities out of our ground water," said Deb Brown, a representative from PaveDrain.

The installation company says the project should be finished by the end of next week.
