Fourteen harpists will take the stage in Nelson County for the Harps of Gold Christmas concert Friday night.
The unique instruments range from 60 to 200 years old. They are all restored to their former 23 carat gold glory.
The harpists will wear period costumes and play music of the era when the harps were built. Harpist and harp teacher Virginia Schweninger says it's like taking a step back in time.
"The music is magical and it's beautiful, and to see 14 harpists playing with their fingers looking so beautiful and so gentle and so confident is just a magical experience," said Schweninger.
The concert will start with solos, and then all 14 harpists will play together. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Rockfish Valley Community Center.
