Greene County Public Schools Superintendent David Jeck has resigned from his position because he has accepted a job with the Fauquier School District. He says he was not able to tell the public why until Friday because he was not yet appointed in his new position.
Jeck says he believes the school board will begin a search quickly for his replacement. He says looks forward to the challenges his new position will bring him. The Fauquier School District has a budget of $120 million compared to Greene's school budget of $32 million.
"It was a good time for a change. I'm someone who is always looking for new challenges, that's what I've done throughout my career and this is, Fauquier is a very different challenge than my experience at Greene the last five years," said Jeck.
Jeck says he will also have more responsibility because he will be overseeing 20 schools. Jeck's last day will be May 10. He said he wanted to stay on board with the school district during the busy budget season.
