Wahoo Men's Basketball Takes Advantage of Break for Exams

Posted: Updated:

The players on the UVA men's basketball team are on break to take final exams this week.

This break comes at a good time for Jontel Evans who re-injured his foot last week in the Tennessee game.

Coach Tony Bennett said Tuesday that he's hoping his starting point guard will be back soon but there are no guarantees when you're dealing with this type of nagging injury.

The solid play of Evans and Freshman point guard Tevin Jones is a big reason why the 'Hoos have won seven straight games heading into the exam break.

That win came after losing two of their first three match ups without Jones and a without a fully healthy Evans.

Coach Bennett has been spending extra time working with his freshmen because he says those guys are going to play important roles the rest of this season.

Bennett said, "I think the guys have played well. We've gotten some good experience for some of our younger players. We know that there is very good competition out there still and we'll have those challenges but to go into the break off of a good win - let the guys focus now on what's really important and that's the studies."

Anderson added, "Our old guys they appreciate this break and we have a long season ahead of us and a tough season ahead of us. It should be fine. Take the exams. Study for them hard."

Virginia's next game is December 19 at home against Morgan State.
