People in and around Charlottesville affected by HIV and AIDS have a chance to speak up about health care Thursday night. The Virginia Department of Health is holding a public hearing at the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library on East Market Street.
They are looking for feedback from members of the community on their use of Ryan White Part B and other HIV prevention funds, as well as barriers to care for people affected by HIV and AIDS.
Elizabeth Beasley with the Thomas Jefferson Health District said, "HIV medications and treatments are really really expensive and of course not all people have the insurance that will cover the cost of treatment and seeing a physician for follow up care and so there is funding available to help those people get into care and to get their medication."
The event is Thursday night at the central branch of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, and goes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
