Augusta Parents Weigh in at Final Redistricting Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Parents had a lot to say to the Augusta County school board about proposed redistricting.

Ladd Elementary is closing at the end of the school year, so Augusta County must adjust boundaries to accommodate those students.

To maintain building capacities, one option has current Cassell students who live in the Wyndham and Emerald Hills subdivision moving to Wilson Elementary.

A mother who spoke out against it said she didn't mind bringing in additional trailers.

"Cassell is a pod school, so everything that they do is they have to leave the classroom to go to the library, to P.E., to cafeteria and to the office to go outside," said Laura Flint. "So really, if they bring the trailers in that's not going to be any different."

Another Cassell mother asked for those opposed to moving kids from Wyndham and Emerald Hills to Wilson to stand - and it's safe to say a majority of those in attendance stood up.
