UVA Will Host Tennessee Wednesday Night

Posted: Updated:

The UVA men's basketball team will host a Tennessee team Wednesday night that plays the same slow-it-down, defensive brand of basketball as the Cavaliers.

Tennessee is coming off a one-point loss to Georgetown which had a final score that looked like football score, as the Vols lost 37-36.

The Wahoos have won five straight games, and are a much more cohesive unit since that loss to Delaware three weeks ago.

Akil Mitchell is coming off his best game of his career, a 20-point effort against Green Bay.

Mitchell has three double-doubles this season.

He's averaging 13 points per game, and has benefited from a healthy Jontel Evans at point guard.

Evans says Wednesday's game with Tennessee will be tough.

"One thing about Tennessee is they are very physical," says Evans. "Like football players. They can defend. We're going to have to step up to the challenge, because it's going to be a good one on Wednesday night."

Junior Joe Harris says, "They're a talented team. They have a lot of firepower offensively, regardless of how much they scored against Georgetown. They have a lot of talent, and it'll be a difficult test for us."

Virginia will host Tennessee Wednesday at 7pm at John Paul Jones Arena.
