Toscano Joins McAuliffe’s Campaign as Co-Chair - NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville, VA News, Sports and Weather

Central Virginia Delegate David Toscano will back democrat Terry McAuliffe for governor in 2013. Toscano will serve McAuliffe as a newly named campaign co-chair.

McAuliffe is a Fairfax County businessman and former chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Toscano says he and McAuliffe have been talking about the campaign for months. Now McAuliffe is gathering party support as he sets out on the campaign trail.

"So I think a lot of legislative leaders were lined up pretty early behind terry, we think he's going to be a terrific candidate, he's got a lot of energy, wonderful contacts. He's a very personable guy, and I think people will really enjoy watching him as a campaigner," said Delegate David Toscano (D) 57th District.

There are rumors that former 5th District Congressman Tom Perriello might make a bid for governor. As for how that could affect the race for the democratic nomination, Toscano says it's still too early to tell.
