Lions Club Donates New Azalea Park Water Fountain

Posted: Updated:

Pets and their owners have a new way to hydrate at a Charlottesville park. Thanks to the Lions Club of Charlottesville, the dog play area of Azalea Park has a new stainless steel water fountain.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the park Friday and one lucky pup got to take the first drink.

The club donated the fountain in honor of the city's 250th anniversary.

"We wanted to be a little bit more visible and let people know that we are out there and we always encourage people to join our club." said Scott Brown of the Charlottesville Lions Club. "We have a lot of great people in it and we're going a lot of great things for the community and we just wanted to be a little bit more visible in the community."

Members of the Lions Club say they loved the idea of giving a gift that could be used by both people and animals.
