Metallica Donates Proceeds to Morgan Harrington Scholarship Fund

Posted: Updated:

The Morgan Harrington Scholarship Fund at Virginia Tech is a little bigger thanks to help from the rock band Metallica.

The band gave the school permission to make and sell "Enter Sandman" shirts, with the agreement that all the proceeds go to the Morgan Harrington Scholarship Fund. So far, sales of the shirts have raised $17,000.

The Virginia Tech bookstore hopes to make the shirt available to the public every year during football season.

Investigators are still searching for Morgan Harrington's killer. She was reported missing after a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena in October 2009. On January 26, 2010, her body was found on an Albemarle County farm, turning a missing persons case into a homicide investigation.
