Albemarle and Charlottesville Meet Jointly on Education Funding
Albemarle's and Charlottesville's school boards came together Thursday.
The focus of the educational meeting was money. Both boards met at the Albemarle County Office Building on McIntire Road.
At the meeting, the nonprofit Public Education Fund presented its plan to develop new strategies for soliciting funding to support public education. The plan is designed to better reflect the current funding needs of both school divisions, and includes support for new programs and classroom initiatives.
Public Education Fund president Lisa Ross Moorefield said, "I think that the Charlottesville-Albemarle community is very generous and very supportive of public education. I think it is up to us to show them the initiatives and exciting programs that they can help us pay for to enhance public education."
The school boards did not make a decision on the proposed plan Thursday, but leaders of the nonprofit hope to hear back by January or February.
