Harrisonburg Fire Department
Press Release
On November 29, 2012 at 3:08 a.m. the Harrisonburg Fire Department responded to 810 North Main Street for a report of a hazardous materials emergency.
Firefighters evacuated the facility and have contained a spill of approximately 25 gallons of an adhesive that contains several highly flammable substances, including toluene. The product was contained to a storage room in the facility.
Investigators determined that a fitting on a transfer pump failed and caused the release. The situation was under control and firefighters remained on the scene for a short period of time.
