Virginia Beats Wisconsin 60-54 in ACC/Big Ten Challenge
The UVa men's basketball team won its fourth straight game Wednesday night beating Wisconsin 60-54 in the ACC Big-10 Challenge.
Joe Harris led all scorers with a season high 22 points. Darion Atkins had a career high 14 points. Akil Mitchell had 11 points and 10 rebounds. The 'Hoos shot 46 percent from the field and made 14 of their 17 free throws. Freshman Justin Anderson made his first 3-pointer after starting the season 0-9 from beyond the arc.
Coach Tony Bennett after the game said, "To see some of our young guys step up, I think Wisconsin went up 5 or 6 and I've seen some teams fold in this environment and I was so pleased that our guys answered quick and stayed tough minded." Bennett added, "my dad has shaped my career there's no doubt about it I've watched him and been so proud of his accomplishments and to come in and at least to put good quality basketball on the floor here that meant a lot and I'm sure he's thankful and excited."
The Cavaliers now have a record of 8-5 in the ACC Big Ten Challenge. The 'Hoos are now 2-1 all-time against Wisconsin.
Virginia's next game is Saturday at home against Wisconsin-Green Bay.
