A former Boy Scout troop leader has been arrested and charged with forcible sodomy of a juvenile. Forty-nine-year-old David Brian Watkins of Keswick has been charged. The victim was a Boy Scout under the age of 13.
Watkins is being held at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail. He will have a bond hearing Thursday in Albemarle County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
If convicted, Watkins faces a penalty of five years to life in prison.
Police think other potential victims may be out there. They are urged to call the victim hotline at 434 972 – 4045.

The Albemarle County Police Department has arrested a former Boy Scout troop leader for forcible sodomy of a juvenile.
On Wednesday, November 28 2012, David Brian Watkins of Keswick, Virginia was taken into custody by Albemarle County Police detectives.
This investigation began on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 when a now adult victim reported sexual abuse by Watkins. The abuse took place when the victim was a juvenile and a member of Watkins' Boy Scout Troop. Additional charges involving this victim are under consideration.
We believe there could be other victims. Watkins was a scout leader in Albemarle County from 2002 until 2008. Anyone with any additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to call 972-4045.
Sodomy involving a juvenile under the age of 13 is deemed to be "non consensual" and is a charge of Forcible Sodomy. A conviction would hold a penalty of five years to life in prison.
Watkins will have a bond hearing on Thursday, November 29th 2012 at 1:30 at the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.
