Gov. McDonnell Delivers Award to Governor’s Bowl Food and Fund Drive Winner
In August we told you about the first ever Governor's Bowl winner. Monday night, the governor himself made a special trip to the valley to deliver the award.
Gov. Bob McDonnell landed at Staunton's Lee High School where he presented a handcrafted ceramic bowl to the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Augusta Chamber beat out more than 200 agencies in the first annual Governor's Bowl Food and Fund Drive.
"It was to help the young people in the summertime who may not be getting proper nutrition to have access to a fully stocked food bank," said Linda Hershey, the Chamber's president.
The Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce raised the equivalent to 107,000 pounds of food.
