Louisa Santa Council Facing Donation Shortage

Posted: Updated:

The Louisa County Santa Council needs your help to grant the Christmas wishes of more than a thousand children.

The council is facing a huge donation shortage with only a few weeks to go until it delivers food, clothing, books and toys to 700 Louisa County families.

This year, the council set a goal to raise $35,000, but it's raised only a little more than $10,000.

"We really want to help our community," said Barbara Wilson with the Louisa County Santa Council.  "We have struggled in Louisa County, particularly since August of 2011 and the earthquake and this is something we've been doing with Santa Council for over 20 years, and we really know that there's a need."

The council has been successful raising money through ornament sales.  This year, it is selling ornaments commemorating the Louisa County High School that was demolished after suffering damage from the earthquake.

Contributions can be mailed to:

Santa Council
P.O. Box 392
Louisa, VA 23093
attn. Treasurer.

All donations are tax deductible, and the community can watch the fund climb as the stocking sign at Essex Bank is updated.
