The Wilson Memorial football team will play in the state semifinals for the second year in a row, as they take on Goochland Saturday, December 1st.
The Hornets earned a trip to the Semi's with a 27-12 win over Stuarts Draft Friday night, while the Bulldogs topped King William 63-36.
Saturday's game will be a rematch of last year's Final Four, which Goochland won 47-21.
Despite the loss, the postseason run still capped off the best season in school history for Wilson Memorial, who had never even advanced past the first round before last year.
That game was on the road.
This one will be at home.
The 13-1 Hornets say they will be looking to go even farther this season.
Running back Malik Rucks says, "It feels great, but we have two more big games coming up so we gotta work hard. First we'll focus on getting routine down and just working together like an oiled machine."
Head coach Jeremiah Major adds, "It's huge. We gotta continue to build and let the kids continue to realize what its all about but we got to continue to take it one step at a time."
Wilson Memorial will host Goochland Saturday at 1 o'clock.
