Charlottesville Grand Illumination Set for Friday

Charlottesville's downtown mall will turn into a winter wonderland Friday night. The community Christmas tree is now at Central Place along the mall.

Festivities kick off at 4:30 p.m. with caroling and singing. The winter wonderland starts at 5 p.m. and the tree will be lit at 6 p.m. NBC29's Jennifer Von Reuter will do the honors.

Organizers say the annual event is a great time for community to come together and relax after a busy day of shopping.
