'Hoos Handle North Texas 80-64, Get Third Straight Win
The UVa men's basketball team had five players in double figures in Virginia's 80-64 win against North Texas Tuesday night.
Freshman Justin Anderson had a career high 14 points. Freshmen Tevin Jones and Evan Nolte each had a career high 13 points. Virginia shot 59 percent from the field and made 8 of 11 three pointers.
Virginia led by 20 at half. North Texas cut the deficit to nine in the second half, before Virginia responded with a 10-2 run and pulled away. Virginia was playing its sixth game in 12 days.
Coach Tony Bennett says, ""I thought they came out with a lot of energy. The first half was the best half of basketball that we've put out there this year. I thought they were very active on the defensive end. They were swarming the ball and bothering the posts. In the first half, you could see that Mitchell is talented, but when he gets going he could be a load. I thought we did a great job in the first half with the energy. When they are motivated, the mind is always stronger than guys realize."
Virginia improves to 4-2. The 'Hoos are off for a week. They'll play at Wisconsin on November 28th.
