Parents of Albemarle County students will have the chance to comment on possible redistricting changes to elementary schools in the northern and western parts of the county.
Agnor Hurt Elementary School is currently 100 students over capacity, and some may be relocated to Broadus Wood, Greer, and/or Woodbrook elementary schools. A second meeting will also consider short-term options for students at Meriwether Lewis Elementary School.
The school system says public feedback is a critical part of the process.
Albemarle County Public Schools Chief Operating Officer Josh Davis said, "The key part to December is getting that public feedback in person to allow our citizens our family members to come out and speak directly to the committee and express their opinions regarding the options that are on the table."
The two meetings will take place on Monday, December 10 at Agnor Hurt Elementary and on Tuesday, December 11 at Meriwether Lewis Elementary. Both start at 6:30 p.m. An online survey will also be sent to parents during the same week.
