UVA Women's Basketball Sails Over Providence 61-42

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia women's basketball team improved to 3-0 after topping Providence 61-42 at John Paul Jones Arena Sunday.

UVA started the game off with a convincing 24-5 lead - with 14 of those points made from the paint.

As the game went on, Coach Joanne Boyle says the team fell into some lulls.

Boyle added, "We just have to become a team that can dictate for 40 minutes. We're not doing that. We're waiting. We're playing to the level of our competition at times which means we are taking possessions off which means we gotta change our mindset when it comes to that."

Ataila Franklin scored in double digits for the third game in a row as she brought in 14 points for the 'Hoos.

Kelsey Wolfe had a stellar performance as well.

Wolfe was a perfect 3-3 from the field for 7 points. She tacked on 5 rebounds before leaving the game in the second half due to a dental related injury.

The Cavaliers are on the road next week and traveling to Puerto Rico to play in the San Juan Shootout.
