Charlottesville Poodle Star of 'Ripley Rescues Christmas'

Posted: Updated:

A Charlottesville poodle is now the star of her own holiday children's book. "Ripley Rescues Christmas" is the fictional story of a dog from Charlottesville who helps Santa find his missing list just in time for Christmas.

Rick Dilelio, who decorates the Christmas tree on Charlottesville's downtown mall, wrote the book about his faithful toy poodle, Ripley.

Dilelio said, "Anybody that has a dog knows how much they can mean to you and she's just such a special dog.  I just wanted everybody to get to know Ripley and everybody to love her and everybody to love their own dog, too. I dedicated the book to those who love Christmas and dogs."

The star of the show will have her own float in the Holiday Heritage Parade on December 1.

The book will be on sale at the tree's grand illumination on Friday, and at Capellino's Crazy Cakes and Chaps Ice Cream on the downtown mall.
