A Page County man is dead after driving his car into the path of an Amtrak train heading from Charlottesville to Washington. This happened Friday night around 5:00 in Fauquier County in the town of Bealeton.
State police say 54-year-old James E. Wood from Shenandoah was driving over the double tracks at an uncontrolled crossing, which means it has no flashing lights or gates. The train could not stop in time, and slammed into Wood's Chevy Cavalier. He died on the scene.
Police say none of the 200 passengers on the train were injured.
