If you heard a loud noise in the sky around 9:30 Thursday night, you were not the only one. Officials at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach tell us it was an EA-6B Prowler flying over Charlottesville.
Tim Faulkner, who heard the jet from his apartment, said, "We were sitting in our apartment and we just heard this loud noise over the apartment complex, over the top of the game at Scott Stadium. I don't know, it was quite interesting. We didn't know what it was at the time, it was definitely a loud noise though I was outside and was looking, couldn't see nothing."
The jet was making an instrumental approach to the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport, although the plane did not land there.
Officials say the jet was extremely loud due to the type of aircraft, and because it was flying at a slow pace.
