The number of international university students in Virginia is growing. According to a new study by the Institute of International Education, many of those students are flocking to the University of Virginia.
With 2,141 international students, UVA has the third most in the state. Students at Monday's international Thanksgiving luncheon said it's traditions like these that draw them to Charlottesville.
"It's a great campus, like UVA has a lot of tradition and so a lot of internationals think the best way to just experience the American college life is to come to a traditional college," said Maria Arguello, a student from Nicaragua.
The state of Virginia ranks 14th in the country when it comes to the number of international students for the 2011-2012 school year.
Virginia Tech had the largest population of international students in Virginia, and George Mason University came in second.
