Readers Flock to JMRL Annual Book Sale in Charlottesville

Posted: Updated:

Readers are flocking to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library in Charlottesville for the system's annual book sale.

Shoppers of all ages browsed the books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records up for grabs at the Gordon Avenue branch Sunday.  The sale supports the library system's operations.

Repeat visitors say it's the selection, price, and feel-good atmosphere that keep them coming back each year.

"A lot of the books that are here, you cannot find most other places, especially Barnes & Noble," said book sale shopper Matthew Toscano.  "And for the prices that they have, it's really amazing."

Karen O'Brien, another book sale shopper, said, "You're holding books that used to belong to your neighbors and you give books back and it's just a great sort of circular relationship of books in the community."

The book sale continues through next Sunday, November 18.  Next Saturday and Sunday all remaining items will be half price.
