Sunday night, a Charlottesville woman had one minute to grab all the groceries she could to help feed hungry families.
Patty Hughson cleared the shelves on a 60-second shopping spree at Reid Super-Save Market. She filled her cart with $361.59 of food.
Hughson won the shopping spree prize in an American Cancer Society silent auction, and decided to donate her entire cart to Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville.
"There's elderly and sick people in Charlottesville that are just in need, and I wanted to help them as much as give back to that charity as well as the cancer," she said.
Hughson says she focused on grabbing canned foods versus meats and refrigerated items. The groceries will go to two brothers in Albemarle County and a family in Charlottesville.
