While Virginia was able to pull out a last-minute, upset win against Miami Saturday, Virginia Tech was not able to do the same in their game against Florida State Thursday night.
After a safety and a field goal gave them the lead with 2 minutes to go in the game, it looked like the Hokies would knock off the 9th-ranked Seminoles.
But FSU responded with a 39-yard Rashad Greene touchdown with just 46 seconds to play, and a Logan Thomas interception on the final drive sealed Tech's third loss in a row.
The Hokies (4-6, 2-4 ACC) now need to win out to have a chance at a bowl game.
Head coach Frank Beamer says, "You don't know quite why things happen, and why you can't quite feel good at the end. But I do know this: There's been no quit in anybody in our program, and that's what I'm counting on right now."
The Hokies kick off at BC next Saturday at 12:30 pm, and close out the season against Virginia on November 24th.
