Calvary Chapel in Charlottesville is gathering items to take to victims of Superstorm Sandy in Middletown, New Jersey.
Members from the church were at the Giant store on Pantops Saturday afternoon to ask shoppers for food donations. They received carts of groceries and hope to fill up the entire floor of the church before their trip Monday.
Kathleen McClain, a member of Calvary Chapel said, "Some people lost their homes and everything, others kept their homes but they have no power. Of course it snowed so it's very cold there, people need clothing they need coats, gloves, hats, blankets but they need food as well."
If you missed Saturday's collection, church members will be taking donations Sunday at the Rio Hill and Emmett Street Kroger stores from noon until 4:00.
