Charlottesville Startup Seeks to Help Small Businesses
A new Charlottesville startup is rewarding customers for supporting their favorite small businesses. "Seed-Ville" launched its first campaign Saturday morning at the farmer's market.
The start-up is helping Charlottesville food truck "Carpe Donut" raise money for a new truck. The idea is to have customers pledge money online in return for rewards from the small business.
Seed-Ville team member Jessica Lee said, "Right now we're starting with Carpe Donut, but our vision is to work with various local mom and pop businesses to help them raise capital for their projects. So in the case of Carpe Donut, it's the food truck but it could be like purchasing new equipment or expansion."
