UVA Men's Basketball Loses Season Opener

The Virginia men's basketball team started three freshman, and started the season with a loss, as the Cavaliers fell 63-59 at George Mason Friday.

UVA senior point Jontel Evans and sophomore guard Malcolm Brogdon missed the game due to injuries.

Junior guard Joe Harris led the Wahoos with 19 points and 8 rebounds, as UVA lost its season opener for the first time in 14 years.

Junior forward Akil Mitchell was the only other Virginia player in double figures, with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The Cavaliers will play Fairfield in the NIT Season Tip-Off Monday at 7pm at JPJ.
