UVA Students Come Together for Election Night Watch Party

Posted: Updated:

University of Virginia students spent Tuesday evening keeping a close eye on the presidential and Senate races.

Several minority student organizations came together for an election night watch party at Newcomb Hall.  The crowd cheered as projection numbers showed their favored candidate, President Barack Obama, up in the polls.

Students said it was important to stay interested in the election until the very end.

"You see a large Obama pool because of his policy toward college students and receiving aid and things like that," said Jordan Jackson with the UVA chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  "It's very important to college students and us knowing where we're headed for the future for the next four years."

The event was sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
