Students and parents alike laced up their running shoes Friday for the fifth annual Hornet Hustle. Every year the hornets run for a different cause. This year, it's the American Heart Association.
On Friday almost 400 students and parents raced the one-and-a-half mile cross-country course around Henley Middle School and Brownsville Elementary in Albemarle County. This year they raised $2,500.
Tessa Pehanick, a teacher at Henley, said, "We're going to be donating that to the American Heart Association. In return, they are a great resource for our health education program and we will also end up getting several hundred dollars worth of equipment for our school."
The $2,500 sets a new record for the Henley Hornet Hustle, and far exceeds the school's goal of $1,000.
