The Albemarle volleyball team won the Commonwealth District Tournament championship Thursday night, as the Patriots beat Colonial Forge 3-1.
The Patriots dropped a game in the match for just the 4th time all season in the victory.
Albemarle head coach Mark Ragland says, "Hopefully we learned how to play tough under pressure. That's the main thing. I think we had some matches this year where were weren't challenged, so sometimes you let a little lax, but tonight we were challenged. It's just a real boost, and I think it'll carry over to the playoffs as well."
Albemarle is now 27-0 on the season.
Fluvanna County lost 3-2 at Powhatan in the Jefferson District championship game.
William Monroe won 3-2 at home against Rappahannock in the Bull Run District quarterfinals.
the Dragons will play at Madison County in the semifinals Saturday at 3pm, after the Mountaineers topped Manassas Park 3-0.
The winner of William Monroe and Madison will play for the district championship Saturday at 7pm.
