A convicted serial burglar will spend an additional six years in prison.
Thursday, a judge sentenced 25-year-old Markus Houchens for a series of burglaries in Louisa County between September and October of 2010. He is already serving 18 years for similar crimes in the same period in Albemarle, Fluvanna and Orange counties.
In court, the commonwealth played an audio tape of a jailhouse phone call, proving Houchens had bragged about attempting to kill a witness in the case. Several letters obtained by investigators also show he was trying to convince witnesses to lie for him in court.
Houchens will spend a total of 24 years behind bars.
