Sneak Peek of The Shops at Stonefield

Posted: Updated:

We got a sneak peek of The Shops at Stonefield in Albemarle County Thursday.  There will be 40 different retailers at the location, with staggered openings over the next six months.

Pier 1 Imports, the first store at The Shops at Stonefield, opens its doors Friday.  The next store to open will be Trader Joe's on November 14.  Other shops scheduled to open this year are Noodles & Company and Burtons Grill.

A variety of new restaurants will roll in around January and February of next year.  The shopping center will also have retailers such as a Blue Ridge Mountain Sports and a Brooks Brothers clothing store.  Those will open over the spring and summer.

The Shops at Stonefield has wide sidewalks for outdoor eating and a green space for concerts and events.

"Whether it's come to see a movie and grab dinner, or go grab groceries and grab coffee or sit out on the park, we want this to be very inviting to the community and be a place where everybody's comfortable coming to hang out," said Brad Dumont, vice president of development for the Shops at Stonefield.

Regal Cinemas, a new IMAX theater with stadium seating, will make its debut on Monday with movies for charity.  Movies, popcorn, and soft drinks will cost only $2 each on November 5, 6, and 8, before the official grand opening on November 9.
