Posted: Updated:

The Virginia Tech football team plays its next 2 games on ESPN's Thursday night football and they are both must wins for the Hokie's to have a shot at winning the ACC's Coastal Division.

Tech plays at Miami Thursday.

The Hokies have lost 3 of their last 4 games and are now 4-4 overall.

Quarterback, Logan Thomas said, "We kind of have a sour taste in our mouths, but getting to the ACC Championship would be huge for us, and we know we can do it if we just play well, if we do we can give any team a run for their money."

Miami is also 4-4.

Tech is 2-2 in the ACC - that's a half game behind Miami who is 3-2 and in a 3-way tie for first in the Coastal Division.

Despite the 'Hokies recent struggles, they still have a shot at the division title.

Head Coach Frank Beamer said, "we've got everything within the ACC to play for - but they do too. They're in the same boat as we are so whoever wins this one definitely gets a leg up on the coastal division championship...When you get to this point of the year you want to be playing important ball games and this is important for both of us. Typical Miami - I think they're tough, rugged, and athletic. We need to uphold our end of the deal as far as a tough football game.

The Hokies are looking to snap their 6 game losing streak on the road which matches their longest losing streak since 1990 and 1991.

Thursdays game will be the 30th football meeting between Miami and Virginia Tech and Miami holds a 17-12 lead in the series.

Virginia Tech is currently 11-3 on ESPN Thursday night football broadcasts at Lane Stadium and 8-2 when traveling.
