Hurricane Sandy Floods Streets of Chincoteague Island
Emergency officials on Chincoteague Island have ordered a curfew as Hurricane Sandy flooded streets, prompting several rescues.
The island has no shelters and no way off after closure of the 5-mile causeway to the mainland. The island's emergency planning coordinator said Monday that no one is allowed on the streets except emergency personnel.
In Richmond, Gov. Bob McDonnell told reporters that the worst of the flooding is over for Hampton Roads, but the worst is yet to come for the rest of the state. He said it now appears northern Virginia will get hit harder than originally thought, with wind gusts over 70 mph Tuesday morning.
