Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are on standby Sunday night to clear storm debris from the roads in central Virginia and the valley. They're also keeping a close eye on the temperatures.
VDOT is preparing winter weather equipment for possible snow removal in the higher elevations - including Interstate 64 over Afton Mountain.
Sandy Myers, the VDOT Staunton district spokesperson, said, "We are fueled up. We have our vehicles ready to go and we are ready for flood and or snow because we could get significant snow in our higher elevations with this particular storm."
VDOT says you should always expect the unexpected and be prepared for blocked roads and delays getting to your destination over the next several days.
