The Sunrise Park neighborhood in Charlottesville will be under construction this weekend. More than 300 volunteers with Habitat for Humanity will come together to fully frame six homes.
It's phase two of the Habitat's Blitz Build. The organization is revamping what was once a trailer park to 66 mixed income housing units. Rachel Mayo says she is thrilled her new house is on its way to becoming a home.
"I'm ecstatic, I am so happy. You know, this is a dream for me, I've become very emotional because all my life I've been begging for a house, ever since my oldest and I left his father, you know we had to leave the house," she said.
The volunteers will work on the homes all weekend and will have six fully framed houses done by Sunday.
