Albemarle County is working to keep jobs and money in central Virginia.
Wednesday the economic development offices of Albemarle County and the city of Charlottesville hosted an international trade briefing at the Albemarle County Office Building. The two supported the idea of more international trade in central Virginia.
Interested businesses learned the ins and outs, and the pros and cons of shipping internationally.
Roger Porter of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership said, "Hopefully they'll learn how the entry will be into a foreign country for trade. It's not easy, it takes time and preparation and it takes research."
A new foreign trade zone partnership with Culpeper County was also discussed at the briefing. The counties are working together to help increase international trade in hopes of bringing more money and jobs in the area. Culpeper County is one of five foreign trade zones in the commonwealth.
